London 2010 International Stamp Exhibition

On May 8th -15th the London International Stamp Exhibition will be held at the Business Design Centre in Islington. This eight day exhibition will be featuring exhibits from ardent collectors worldwide. It will likely be a very competitive affair with exhibits from auctioneers, stamp dealers, postal administration, and the Royal Mail to name a few.

The programme is to be a yearlong one with many events and exhibitions being held throughout the year. This is done in an effort to showcase, build public awareness, and celebrate postal stamps and their rich history and design. The festival will mark the centenary of George V becoming King and the major display can be viewed at the Business Design Centre. Under George V, there were many changes and innovations in the General Post Office.

There will be more festival type exhibitions and events being held at different locations and these are being coordinated by The British Postal Museum and Archive. Exhibitions will usually feature old, new, and unique stamps, archival materials, and many objects. Other venues for the yearlong exhibitions include Bath Postal Museum, the British Museum, Bletchley Park, and the British Library.

For most of the shows and exhibitions to be held, the opening hours will be between 10:00am -6:00pm. Shows will be free to all except on the opening day, May 8, where there will be an entrance fee of around £10.00.

The uniqueness of this exhibition should not be ignored since the show only occurs in London every ten years, so it must not be missed.
