Student Railcards
When I decided to stay living at home during University I knew it was going to cost me a lot on travel but I thought that this would be next to nothing to spend compared to the extra expenses of renting accommodation in the city. My mum was letting me pay reduced rent at home which gave me a chance to save some of the money I earn at work and put it towards paying off my student loan.

I had been in University for two years before I heard anyone mention the word student railcard and as soon as I did my ears immediately perked up. I couldn’t believe I hadn’t heard about this sooner, I was literally horrified. I was straight on the National Rail website to find out what it was all about.
What is this Student Railcard all about?
If you are aged 16 to 25 and you are in full time study or if you are a mature student you can apply for this card. You can save up to a third off all fares in the UK, which over time helps you to save a lot of money.
If only I had known about this sooner!

Is the student railcard worth it?
So now you want to know, is the student railcard worth it? Of course it is! Anything that helps you save money in this day and age is worth it, especially when you are a student. Over the course of your studying, you will make enormous savings. Then with all the money you have stashed away, that would have been wasted on travel, you can spend on something you really want or need.
So stop trying to impress the ladies and pimp out your university hall room buying executive office furniture and invest in a student railcard instead!
